The HTC U11 is the newest release from HTC, and it’s a powerful smartphone, with an amazing new feature - Edge Sense.
The HTC U11 is 5.5 inches, and has a Super LCD5 capacitive touchscreen with multitouch. It has a 71.4% screen to body ration, and resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for extra protection for the display. There is a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 back plate, which adds protection. It has a Liquid Surface design, so the glass has different colors in each layer, which allows a change in hue from every viewing angle. The home button double as a fingerprint sensor, which gives it extra security. It is IP67 certified, so it is dust and water resistant, up to a meter and 30 minutes.
The HTC U11 uses the HTC Sense user interface, and Android 7.1 Nougat is the operating system. It has some app enhancements, but some things remain the same from previous phones with the HTC Sense UI. It still has home screens, app tray, notifications, HTC Blinkfeed which aggregates news and social media content into one feed. It has some new and updated apps as well. The HTC Sense Companion which gives you information on weather, local restaurants, battery information and your daily steps count. The more you use the phone, the more intuitive it becomes. It can use Google Now as a personal assistant, but there are plans for Amazon’s Alexa to become available by the end of June.
The Edge Sense feature lets you squeeze your phone to act as an input. You can set the functions to open various apps depending on how long you squeeze your phone. There will also be more app customization in the future, and Edge Squeeze works when you have gloves on, or when wet.
The HTC U11 supports Hi-Res audio, and comes with USonic headphones. It also has BoomSound stereo speakers. It doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack, but the headphones plug in through the USB-C. You can customize the settings, which gives you a much better sound quality.
The HTC U11 has a 12MP rear facing camera, with f/1.7 aperture, and OIS. It gives you a sharp picture quality. It has touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, and dual LED flash. It can record 4K video, with great detail. The forward facing camera is a 16MP camera with f/2 aperture. It has a Live makeup mode, and can record 1080p video.
It uses the Snapdragon 835 chipset, and an octa core CPU, with four 2.45 GHz Kyro cores and four 1.9 GHz Kyro cores. It comes with 64GB of internal storage and 4GB RAM, but some markets have 126GB of internal storage and 6GB RAM. It has a non-removable 3,000 mAh lithium ion battery, which can provide up to 336 hours of stand by time, or up to 24 hours and 30 minutes of talk time.
The HTC U11 has Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and is NFC compatible. It supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual band, DLNA, and WiFi direct. It’s also 4G LTE compatible so you can have fast speed internet while on the move.
